This film was shot by Joseph Swan. He and his family were part of the expatriate community in Shanghai , China , in the early 1930s. Lena Colby Swan, his wife, was the daughter of Forrest Colby, Maine 's Forest Commissioner. Joan Branch, the donor, was their daughter.
