 his
year the Cumberland County Civic Center is celebrating its
25th Anniversary. If you've lived in Maine, or
even New England during any portion of the past 25 years,
chances are pretty good you've been to the Civic Center.
Whether it was with the kids for an entertaining children's show,
watching an exciting championship sports event, or attending a concert
that featured your favorite band, the Cumberland County
Civic Center has, over the last quarter-century, played host to
many of our fondest memories, indeed memories that will last us a lifetime.
Around Maine visited the Civic Center recently with our cameras
in tow, and we poured through old scrapbooks and photographs of the
arena's early years. We've put together a retrospective
look at the Civic Center, literally from the ground up. We'd like to
give special thanks to Roberta Wright, the Civic Center's
Marketing Director, and to the entire staff for opening the
doors and allowing us to share
with you a unique look at the place that has played such a
memorable part in our lives. We hope you'll enjoy...
