Darren Chisolm owns Land's End Limousine ("Where excellence meets elegence" proclaims his business card). Having never actually seen the inside of a limo, we took him up on his offer to check it out and ask him some questions about it.

So what exactly is this thing?

"It’s a 2000 Lincoln Town Car super stretch limousine. It’s fully loaded with everything you’d want in a limousine from CD player, TV VCR, full bar setup, a couple of coolers, privacy divider. It’s got the mirrored ceiling with the fiber optics right in the mirror, and the fiber optics along the bar as well. At night it’s really beautiful. It’s what they call 120 inch, ten passenger; a hundred and twenty inches from door to door back there. What they do, I actually watched them do this, they actually take a Lincoln town car and cut the vehicle in half..stick this middle piece in with all the components and the bar and the whole thing inside and basically weld it back together. It’s a pretty interesting process, I actually went down to Haverhill Mass. Where I purchased this at Royale Limousine and they walked me through the whole process."

What’s the furthest you’ve driven it?

"Pittsburgh... It’s mostly New England. We do a lot of airport service, running people to the Jetport or to Logan."

What kind of mileage do you get?

"Really, it’s not too bad, if you look here (at the dash) right now I’m averaging fifteen or sixteen miles per gallon so that’s not bad for a car this size."

How does it handle in the snow?

"Not bad to be honest with you. Overall because it’s such a heavy vehicle it stays on the road pretty well."

People do wacky stuff back here?

"Oh yeah, I’ve got stories…I’ll tell you right now the bachelorette parties are the craziest. Girls always say ‘You guys are out of control.’ They think the bachelor parties are out of control. Nope. Totally opposite. The bachelorette parties are the craziest, you wouldn’t believe it. I just sit right here and drive and laugh."
